Harry Maguire denies captaincy power tussle with Ronaldo at Manchester United

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has come out to dispel rumours making the rounds of a recent struggle for the captaincy of the club. 

Quoting one of the many tweets that insinuated a power tussle with Cristiano Ronaldo, Maguire stated that the rumours are not true and the team remains 'united and focused.' 

Maguire tweeted: "I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another. Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone."

Manchester United eased some of the mounting pressure with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Tuesday but there remain issues off the pitch with the United squad.

Maguire has also been under pressure at the club due to below-par defensive performances since he joined the United from Leicester City in an £80m deal in August 2019.
