West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin hoping to build on win

After starting the final day in Trinidad needing two quick wickets, the hosts initially toiled yet - after bowling New Zealand out for 331 - they burst into life.

Chris Gayle struck a stunning 80 not out from 46 deliveries to level the series and leave them dreaming of a first Test-series win since March 2013.

Ramdin praised the work ethic of his players on a less-than-helpful wicket and hoped they would get a better pitch to work with in the deciding Test.

"It was a fantastic win," he said in his post-match interview. "The conditions were tough for the bowlers.

"The pitch was placid; it was one in which you had to keep working well.

"Hopefully we can get a good pitch in Barbados, where batsmen can score runs and fast bowlers can take wickets."

West Indies have won three of their last four matches in Bridgetown, and have a 100 per cent record against New Zealand there.
