Adam Scott chasing US Open form reversal

World number one Adam Scott is chasing a reversal in fortunes ahead of the US Open at Pinehurst.

Scott, though, has one glaring chink in his armour - his failure to threaten at US Opens, as he has done at each other major.

He has four top-10 finishes at both the Masters and the PGA Championship, counting his win at Augusta in 2013, and another three at the British Open.

However, Scott's best result at a US Open was a tied for 15th finish in 2012 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco - something he is keen to atone for starting Thursday in North Carolina.

"I certainly haven't had the best record at the US Open. It's hard to put a finger on a lot of it," Scott said.

"I've talked to you all about 10 years of playing pretty average by my own expectations in majors and trying to improve that over the last few years.

"I think I've done a good job.

"But maybe not quite as good at the US Open, however I felt at Olympic I played very well the last 60 holes or so, after a really bad start on Thursday.

"Maybe it's coincidence that I haven't had my best stuff at a US Open, but I certainly feel like where my game is at now, and the past few years, I should be able to compete here.

"I'm trying to build a game that can play anywhere.

"So it's a good week for me to kind of turn the corner and get in contention, I think this course sets up well for me."

Pinehurst Resort has eight golf courses, with 'Course No.2' the scene of the year's second major.

And Scott said the venue was more than appropriate to host a US Open.

"It really feels like a bit of a golf mecca here, and I'm sure my parents would have a great week if they were here playing golf at all the different golf courses," he said.

"It's got a lovely feel to it.

"All the courses seem to have this somewhat rustic look about them through the pine trees.

"Certainly aesthetically it's a very pleasing way to walk around and spend the day on a golf course."
