Video of Cats terrified of CUCUMBERS goes viral

Videos of Cats terrified of cucumbers has gone viral all over the world and no one knows exactly why.

The videos went viral after people were seen putting cucumbers behind their cats while they eat.

When the cat turns around and notices the cucumber, there is an interesting response.

The trend has reached reddit, and there is a dedicated thread called 'cucumbers scaring cats'.

However, it seems cucumbers are not scaring cats per se as Dr Roger Mugford, a specialist in animal behaviour, explained that: "The reaction is due to the novelty and unexpectedness of finding an unusual object secretly placed whilst their heads were down in the food bowl.

"Cats have to be suspicious of the unknown: it could represent the danger of a snake or another predator. I suspect that there would be the same reaction to a model spider, a plastic fish or a human face mask.

"So not an inherent feature of cucumbers, just their unusual context."

This is not the first time Cats have gone viral on social media, in 2015, another feline phenomen surfaced where cats placed within a circle on the floor would be unable, or unwilling, to move beyond its boundaries.

No one knew why.
