Super Eagles sharpshooter joins Serie B side Benevento
Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo has today completed a loan move to Italian Serie B side Benevento Calcio from Serie A club Salernitana.
The 30-year-old forward signed with the Benevento on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy after falling down the pecking order at Salernitana with the summer arrival of Krzysztof Piatek, Boulaye Dia, and Diego Valencia.
Simy has not featured in any game for Salernitana this season in the Serie A, also failing to make the substitutes' bench in all three league matches.

The mid-table Serie B club announced the details of Simy's deal alongside pictures of the Super Eagles star posted on the website.
The statement read: "Benevento Calcio announces that it has reached an agreement with Salernitana for the right to sports performances of the striker Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo.
"The Nigerian footballer, born in 1992, arrives at the Giallorossi club on a temporary basis with the right of option."
Simy Nwankwo is expected to compete against Francesco Forte and Antonio La Gumina for a starting spot in Benevento's forward line.
The 30-year-old Nigerian striker had a breakout season during the 2020/21 Serie A season when he bagged 20 league goals in 38 matches for Salernitana on their return to the top flight.
However, the Super Eagles star had an underwhelming 2021/22 season, scoring only one (1) league goal in 19 matches for Salernitana.
