French DJ David Guetta has been announced as the writer of the Euro 2016 official theme song.
The EDM star took to his Twitter to confirm the news; "Secrets out then. I’m the musical ambassador for UEFA Euro 2016.@uefaeuro bring it on!" he wrote.
Guetta according to reports will perform the song which will be released before the football tournament in France next year at the competition’s opening ceremony at the Stade de France.
The Frenchman’s role will also extend beyond writing the theme song, as he will create what UEFA call the 'musical identity' of the tournament, which includes everything from in-stadia audio to global broadcast sequences.
Guetta will also perform a free concert at the Champ Mars in Paris on June 9, 2016, the eve of the tournament.
"It is incredibly exciting to be part of this huge football tournament in my home country," Guetta said.
"Music and football go hand in hand. We want the fans to be at the very heart of everything that we do."
UEFA president Michael Platini added: "We wanted to work with David Guetta because he has proven throughout his career that he can create music which inspires people all around the world. David's music has great energy so we look forward to seeing and hearing him add to the spirit and atmosphere of the tournament."
