Acclaimed opera singers Oleg Bryjak and Maria Radner died in the Germanwings airplane crash that occurred Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
Baritone Oleg Bryjak and contralto Maria Radner were part of the 150 people aboard the ill fated Germanwings Flight 9525 that crashed into the French Alps while on its way to Dusseldorf.
Radner who was 34 years old died alongside her husband and their baby.
Bryjak, 54, who was born in Kazakhstan, was playing his role as Alberich in the German composer’s opera at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain.
“We have lost a great performer and a great person in Oleg Bryjak,” said Director Christoph Meyer. “We are stunned" he further said.
Radner had her debut early 2012 at the Metropolitan Opera when she sang eight performances of “Gotterdammerung”. She quickly rose in status within the next three years.
