Instead of a traditional father-daughter wedding dance, a US man opted for something different on his daughter’s wedding day.

Jim Mickunas instead surprised his daughter Kandice by pulling out a baseball mitt for a game of catch.

Video footage captures dad and daughter briefly dancing to Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ before being handed baseball gloves and then breaking into a throw-and-catch match.

The pair tosses the ball back-and-forth to John Fogerty’s baseball anthem ‘Centerfield’ until Jim hands the glove over to his new son-in-law to continue the game with is daughter together as a symbol of their future as a married couple.

Captioned with the clip posted by Jim says his daughter is far from traditional.

“My daughter has always found her own path.

“She played Flag football at six. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in Soccer and Track.

“She then became an engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22. I could not imagine having a traditional father-daughter dance with her.

“That is not what we were or are...So I came up with this. She had no idea!”
