Alliance for Affordable Internet Policy Manager is joining Facebook

Along with fellow tech giant Google, Facebook is also a member of A4AI and Boakye should be continuing his work towards making affordable internet access a reality at Facebook.

At A4AI, most of Boakye's work has been on the use of mobile infrastructure and evices for the delivery of services, strategic planning for Universal Service Funds, and ICT regulators focused on advancing internet accessibility.

He began work as policy manager at A4AI in 2013 and prior to that he was a programme manager at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).

A4AI is a broad coalition which aims to provide affordable internet access to all individuals in all countries. Broad implies that members of the collective cut across a wide range of countries as well as private or public companies.

Along with fellow tech giant Google, Facebook is also a member of A4AI and Boakye should be continuing his work towards making affordable internet access a reality at Facebook.

According to a TechCabal report, Boakye will be replaced by Eleanor Sarpong, a consultant to the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Sarpong, just like Boakye, has also worked at the CTO but as an associate consultant who worked on various projects including a presentation to members of the board of National Regulatory Authorities (NRA) drawn from four countries on the relevance of ICT and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in achieving the UNs Strategic Development Goals.

A4AI will officially welcome Sarpong in October but until then, the regional coordinators of A4AI's regions - Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean - will be in charge of enquiries.
