Pinnick admits women's football have been ignored by NFF

Pinnick stated this after theSuper Falcons in an international friendly on Friday, April 6.

The foreign-based Super Falcons stars have not played together as a team since they won the , before they were invited for the friendly against France.

After the Falcons loss to France Pinnick revealed in a series of Tweets on his official Twitter account that his administration did not prepare adequately for the encounter.

He explained that due to the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification process for the Super Eagles there hasn’t been much attention paid to the Super Falcons.

He said, “just shows how much work is in front of us. We concentrated a lot of our efforts on our Super Eagles, but it was unintentional. It was mainly due to situations beyond our control and not limited to finance as well. Our female football teams have always done us proud.”

Pinnick also stated that the friendly game against France was an avenue for newly unveiled Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby to test run his players to know their strengths and weaknesses after a bronze medal at the .

“Our Super Falcons team is the best female team in Africa. Our pride in them will never waver. As with any friendly match, the game against France was more for the technical team to look at the players now and see who and what will fit. The result, though very lopsided...” Pinnick said

The NFF President then went on to state that regardless of the outcome of the friendly match against France he and his administration are proud of the efforts of the team.

He said, “Hopefully, we will do them proud as well. So, I would like to just tell Nigerians that I, the Executive Committee and Management of the NFF, are all very proud of our Super Falcons and we know they will make us proud as they usually do. One bad experimental result does not change.”

The NFF are yet to release the schedule for the preparations of the Super Falcons for the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.
