Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, has said that the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) will soon introduce Post Bank to bring banking services to rural dwellers.

The minister said the Post Bank will give rural dwellers access banking services through NIPOST offices across the country.
Shittu made this statement while addressing journalists in Ibadan, according to media reports. The minister said the Post Bank will give rural dwellers access banking services through NIPOST offices across the country.
He also said the ministry would make arrangements with all foreign postal services soon to make the Express Mail Service of NIPOST handle all internal distributions in the country.
On appointing a new Post Master General, the Minister said, “From the advert, we had 47 applications of which 21 had been selected for interview. The 21 would have their interviews from Wednesday to Friday on the basis of seven persons per day.
“I did not unilaterally choose an individual for reasons of due process and to uphold the present administration’s principle of transparency.
“We have also ensured that our interviewers were drawn from all the ministries and agencies, including EFCC, ICPC and the Federal Character Commission.”
He also expressed his determination to make a difference during his tenure as Minister of Communication.
