After the initial date of December 2nd was shifted, Zahra Buhari's wedding with Ahmed Indimi has now been set for December 16th, 2016.
The date for the nuptials had been widely publicised as December 2, 2016, until, according to reports, the President stepped in and asked the ceremony to be moved to a later date.
It is being reported that the President, who prefers a low-key celebration, did not like the attention being drawn to the ceremony.
It was also widely reported that the groom’s family presented Zahra with 30 expensive Louis Vuitton bags, adding to the President's reasons for disapproval..
A new invitation card which has now surfaced gives reason to believe that a new wedding date has been fixed December 16, 2016.
“It is with great pleasure that I notify you [of] the wedding Fatiha of my son, Ahmed, and Zahra, daughter of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, that will In-Sha-Allah take place on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 2pm at the National Mosque, Abuja, immediately after Jumma'at Prayers.
"My family and I will be highly honoured by your presence, and will also appreciate your prayers for the wellbeing of the young couple,” reads the words of the invite which was signed by Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Indimi, OFR.
Another wedding invite seems to have been printed by the bride's family, as both families continue to prepare for wedding fatiha which the President, the bride's father, is keen to keep as simple as possible.
Zahra the bride is a graduate of microbiology from the University of Surrey, England and an ambassador for SCAF, an organisation concerned with tackling and minimising sickle cell, and the groom is the son of billionaire, Muhammadu Indimi, and holds the position of the marketing director of Oriental Energy Resources.
All the very best to the couple as they prepare to finally enter into another phase of their lives.
