Menswear brand comes through with bold colours for SS18

Straight off an impressive 2017 LFDW presentation, Morafa does bold pieces for SS18; Grandiosity inspired by mental illness.

The fast rising menswear brand who had a recent outing at the 2017 LFDW comes with more confidence with the summer offerings he presents as unisex.

The pieces for male and female features bold graphics on intricate fabrics in styles as tuxedos for men, pleather biker jackets styles for the bold dresser who is young at heart, sequin jackets for ladies, damask crafted in solid jackets.

Solid matching tux sets paired with vests with cutout details for men easily stood out from the collection, bold coloured macs, 3D floral embellished sets were all stand out looks from the collection. Tiled sequin jackets and co-ords made way into the collection for the daring females.

Tagged 'Grandiosity' which he interpreted as 'royalty' and 'uniqueness', the brand's creative director Seun Morafa was inspired by a friend who tragically had a mental illness.

"The first time I encountered it was years ago when a close friend of mine started having grandiose illusions, he felt like royalty, always picturing himself as a king. At first I didn’t understand until I realized it was  a mental problem, although tragic,I drew inspiration from his big imaginations"

"Grandiosity can mean superiority, royalty, elegance" he continues "and this is what I have decided to be the theme of this my collection because I want anyone who ever wears any of these designs to be able to see themselves as someone of importance, value and self worth!"

He refers to Grandiosity as "an unrealistic sense of superiority,a sustained view of oneself as better than others that causes the narcissist to view others with disdain or as inferior as well as to a sense of uniqueness. The belief that few others have anything in common with oneself and that one can only be understood by a few or very special people".

For SS18, it's good to see Morafa taking calculated risks with fabrics, styles and his whole presentation not just for men but for ladies as well.
