Social Unrest Reprisal attack averted after murder of teenager

The victim has been buried according to Islamic rites. His killer and accomplices have also been arrested by the police.

Vigilante groups and some elders of the Ungwan Rimi, in Kaduna State, successfully prevented a reprisal attack which could have led to a double tragedy, after a teenager was murdered in the community.

According to the Daily Post, an unidentified teenager was reported to have stabbed his friend to death.

The incident led to a move for revenge by friends of the victims, but due to a quick intervention of the community leaders, the attack was prevented.

The murder culprit and other accomplices have however been arrested by the police.

Alhaji Sule Wada, who is a resident of the community explained the efforts made to maintain peace after the unfortunate incident.

He said, “On Sunday night, up till 1:00 a.m, we were busy ensuring that the situation does not escalate; we are happy with the success recorded,”

According to reports, the victim of the attack has been buried according to Islamic practices.
