There are actually tips to help determine products that may work for your hair and this may prevent you from buying unnecessary products and in turn save you some money.
Well, maybe not everyone but if you are one of those people, I am going to tell you to STOP RIGHT THERE! There are actually tips to help determine products that may work for your hair and this may prevent you from buying unnecessary products and in turn save you some money. So, let's get started!
In as much as some people in the “Natural Hair Community” do not believe in the hair typing system, it has actually helped a lot in determining ways to care for your hair. Most Africans fall under the Type 4 category which has sub categories a, b and c. So, do your research and determine what hair type you fall under.
Porosity is the ability of your hair to absorb and retain moisture. It is divided into 3, medium(normal), high and low. You can use the water strand test method to determine your hair porosity where a strand of hair is placed in a glass cup of water. If it floats at the top, it is of low porosity, if it sinks to the bottom, it is of high porosity and if it stays in the middle, it is of medium porosity. You can also simple tips to see how well your hair does with products here(www.ciscakinks.com/2017/06/identifying-hair-porosity.html).
This will definitely help in streamlining the products you should be using. And also show simple hacks to better take care of your hair. DO NOT take everything a blogger /vlogger says word for word or follow action for action. Tweak processes to better suit your hair because inasmuch as you may have the same hair type and porosity, each head of hair is entirely different than the next.
Before purchasing any product from a beauty supply store or from brands, it is best to look at the first five ingredients of which water should be among because our hair loves water to help it stay moisturized. Research on the ingredients to ensure that they are not damaging to your hair.
No one wants to try products and not have it work for them right? But sometimes it happens until you find one that works and you stick to it. But you need to find it FAST. An alternative is to try out sample products first before going all out in purchasing big sized products or you could try your Sister's or your Friend's products (You didn't get that advice from me).
Hope you find this tips helpful.
