The revered makeup artist and author found the cosmetics company twenty-six years ago (in 1990) when she worked with a chemist to create ten natural lipstick shades. She released yellow-toned foundation sticks in 1991.

Beauty giant Estée Lauder Companies bought Bobbi Brown Essentials in 1995 with Bobbi Brown retaining creative control of the makeup line. Currently available in more than sixty countries around the world, the makeup brand is the number one brand by a female makeup artist.
“I am thankful for the extraordinary people that I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years and proud of the creative endeavours and innovative products we’ve created together and the Lauder family, for the many opportunities they gave me ”Brown stated in a release to Vogue Magazine.

Estée Lauder Companies who own the Bobbi Brown brand confirmed the makeup artist's departure in another statement to Vogue revealing Estée Lauder's global brand president Peter Lichtenthal will oversee the entire business come 2017.
