The apex bank is said to have made the admission in response to a request by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) for a detailed report on the loot.
“In response to your request, we would like to inform you that we are still considering your request and we will need additional time because the money involved is too huge for us to handle,” the bank reportedly told SERAP.
Abacha is believed to have stolen about $11.3 billion from Nigeria’s coffers during his tenure.
