Withdrawal of Absurd Plan Not Enough. Spanish La Liga Chief Calls for Infantino's Immediate Resignation

Javier Tebas, head of Spain's La Liga, has urged Gianni Infantino, president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), to step down from his position. The Swiss official announced on Saturday that he would not proceed with the controversial plan to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors.

Despite this, Tebas is still calling for Infantino's resignation. "Infantino cannot continue. The withdrawal of the controversial plan is good news, but it would be a grave mistake to think that this resolves the current FIFA president's mismanagement.

Individual football confederations, national associations, leagues, and players cannot be satisfied merely with the absurd plan not going ahead," DPA quoted Tebas as saying, a statement the La Liga chief posted on social media platform X.
