Nigerian midfielder shows his class again as Leicester City progress in Champions League
“We gave it everything we had, we left everything out there. what a Great support from the fans,” Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi wrote on Twitter after Leicester Cityon Tuesday, March 14.
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Leicester City did everything right on the night to get a 2-0 win.
The defence was tight, the midfield was compact while attack pushed Sevilla all through the game.
At the centre of everything good about Leicester City on the night was Ndidi and like he said in his tweet, he gave everything.

On the night, the 20-year-old was the pivot for both Leicester City’s defending and attacking. When Leicester City were without the ball he became a defender, when they were possession he became a midfielder, managing to keep his line to prevent any counter attack from Sevilla.
For Leicester City first goal, Ndidi attacked a free-kick causing chaos in the Sevilla box to allow his captain Wes Morgan to score.
His imperious performance in the middle of the park allowed Danny Drinkwater and Marc Albrighton to push Sevilla backwards. Albrighton scored Leicester City’s second goal of the night.
Ndidi however still has a lot of work to do, especially with his positioning as he is often caught some distance away from the danger.
In general, the 20-year-old had a good night with 93% pass completion, winning 67% of his tackles, 50% of his aerial duels, two interceptions, one block and nine clearances.
Only three players from the two Champions League second round ties played on Tuesday, March 14 had more clearance than him.
Leicester City shockingly won the Premier League title in 2016 with a certain N’Golo Kante who was influential in the middle.
Ndidi was signed in January to replace the now Chelsea midfielder.
If Leicester City win the Champions League this season, then the Nigerian has done exactly that.
