Max Verstappen does not buy into the age-old adage that "every driver dreams of racing for Ferrari." The famous phrase, attributed to Enzo Ferrari himself, was also cited by Toto Wolff when Lewis Hamilton made his shock decision to leave Mercedes for the Scuderia.
Speaking in Singapore, however, Verstappen made it clear that he is not interested in making such a move at any future stage of his Formula 1 career.
"I just want to win; I'm not one for nostalgia. Of course, I have huge respect for the Ferrari brand, but if it means fighting for fifth or sixth place at best, what's the point?" Verstappen explained. "I'm only interested in results. We have achieved incredible success together at Red Bull, this team feels like a second family to me, and right now we are working on completely revamping the operation and chasing new goals."
When asked whether Christian Horner should return to the Formula 1 paddock, Verstappen indicated that his relationship with the ousted former Red Bull team principal has entered a new chapter.
"I don't want to sound rude, but that's not my problem," the world champion explained. "I'm not concerned about that at all. He has already proven what he's capable of, and if the right opportunity arises, he'll be back—I have no doubt about that."
