Instant messaging app could debut video calling sooner than later
Various media reports reveal that video on calling on WhatsApp, the Facebook-owned instant messaging platform, has been in the works for quite some time.
Recently, leaked images of the feature being used on an iPhone have surfaced, confirming earlier rumors that video calling might soon become a feature on the popular messaging service.
In its beta stage, WhatsApp for Android had a video call option and multiple users saw the feature show up on the latest update of the app.
For those users, and those who got the beta version, pressing the call button brought up an option to choose between a video call and a voice call but the feature was not available to the majority of users on the platform and was later removed with the next update.
This means that the video call option was most likely not ready for a public release, but it would seem that the feature is in its last stages before roll out.
