Rooney who becomes only the ninth England player to reach the milestone admits that it is an honour to be one of the few players to receive a 100th international cap which will be presented to him by Sir Bobby Charlton

Rooney has his sights set on becoming England’s highest capped player, by which he would have to surpass Peter Shilton's record of 125 appearances; with David Beckham (115), Steven Gerrard (114), Bobby Moore (108), Ashley Cole (107), Frank Lampard (106), Sir Bobby Charlton (106), Billy Wright (105) and surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 49 goals with just 6 before he hits the mark
