Osimhen to battle Gavi, Valverde for pre-World Cup award in Qatar

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to go up against some of the best young talents in world football for a prestigious award in November 2022.

The Napoli striker was named in a 20-man shortlist in the category of the Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year of the 13th Globe Soccer Awards.

Osimhen will seek to be the inaugural winner of the award as the category makes its debut in the 2022 edition of the awards ceremony.

Osimhen nominated for Globe Soccer Awards

The 2022 Globe Soccer Awards is billed to hold at the Madinat Jumeirah in Qatar on November 17, just three days before the start of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to the list of nominees published on the Awards' official website, Osimhen will go up against the likes of 2022 Kopa Trophy winner Gavi, Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka.

The Super Eagles star will not be at the 2022 World Cup after Nigeria failed to qualify for the Mundial.
