Why Chelsea star was missing from Super Eagles squad for South Africa clash
Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has revealed why Chelsea star Victor Moses is missing from the squad to face South Africa.
Nigeria host South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday, June 10 and Moses was surprisingly dropped for the game.
“Victor has to be operated on the toe. He played only with injections in the last games including the FA Cup final game, where he got sent off against ”, Rohr is quoted to say by Own Gol Nigeria.
This is the latest withdrawal for Moses who has only played four competitive games for the Super Eagles in the last three years.
His commitment to Super Eagles is in question but Rohr is confident that he will have a fully fit Moses for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in August, September.
Moses had a hectic season with Chelsea, playing 34 league games as Chelsea won the Premier League title.
On Saturday, May 27, he played in Chelsea 2-1 FA Cup final loss to Chelsea and was sent off in the 68th minute for diving.
