Former Super Eagles striker, Victor Agali has revealed that a land gift from ex-Governor of River State Peter Odili nearly cost him his life.
The former Marseille striker was given a piece of land by Peter Odili as a reward for qualifying for the Korea/Japan World Cup.
The land situated at the Trans-Amadi GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt has however been sold by the former footballer to a military officier.
According to the one-time Schalke 04 striker, he decided to sell the land in order to save his life.
Speaking to a News Watch reporter, Agali said “I’m not ready for endless court cases over land matters. I am happy and contented with the little God has blessed me.
"I think I have more serious things to do than land issues. Despite showing them my certificate of occupancy (C of O), the people were not only claiming my land, but threatened to spill blood if the land was not surrendered to them.
“My life is more important than the land. That was why when I noticed their moves, I was terribly scared.
"So I had no choice than to sell it to one of the top members of the militant groups. They know themselves better so they can dig it out together.”
