Cadillac driver Valtteri Bottas has taken an unconventional approach to travelling between the races in Malaysia and Singapore, opting to cover the 320-kilometre distance from Sepang to the city-state by bicycle.
The Finn set off on Sunday evening from the circuit near Kuala Lumpur, which hosted the Bahrain Grand Prix, sharing the start of his journey on Instagram. A 56.6-kilometre route later appeared on his Strava profile, showing a ride to Port Dickson that took just over two hours.
Bottas is one of the most prominent cyclists on the Formula 1 grid and has even competed in events sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI). His partner Tiffany Cromwell, whom he has been with since February 2020, is an Australian road and gravel cyclist who recently called time on her professional career.
Unlike Bottas, his rivals chose more conventional modes of transport between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Most opted to fly, while Pierre Gasly travelled by car given the relatively short distance between the two destinations.
