Cadillac driver Valtteri Bottas made a striking claim in an interview with the Financial Times, stating that Formula 1's newest outfit boasts superior facilities to Mercedes.
The Finnish driver is intimately familiar with the Silver Arrows' Brackley headquarters, having spent six seasons with the team—five as a race driver between 2017 and 2021, and another as a reserve driver in 2025. Following his year on the sidelines at Mercedes, Bottas earned his way back onto the grid with Cadillac, who debuted at the start of the season but remain without a point after 17 rounds.
Mercedes, meanwhile, lead the championship standings and are on course to secure their ninth Constructors' title since 2014. Despite the contrasting fortunes on track, Bottas firmly believes Cadillac's Silverstone base holds the edge.
"I'd say yes," the Finn replied when asked whether Cadillac has better facilities at its headquarters. His teammate Sergio Perez, who spent four seasons at Red Bull between 2021 and 2024, echoed that sentiment.
"We visited the factory, and it's truly impressive. I've never seen a facility like that in my entire career—it's remarkable and great to see. We spoke with the engineers, everyone involved in the project, went over the plans and everything. It was great to catch up with everyone. Above all, everything is brand new—the equipment at their disposal, the rigs, and how seamlessly connected all the different departments are. It's like a brand-new home that's extremely well organised. It was really exciting to see," Perez said.
