Victory continued United States' dominance of the sport, after the team also took gold at the London Olympics in 2012.

They topped the podium by a winning margin of over five points two years ago, and Wednesday's victory was even more convincing as triumphed with a score of 179.280.

Kyla Ross was the only remaining member of the Olympic team from two years ago, and she competed across all four disciplines to help her team to victory.

China's men had taken gold to delight the home crowd on Tuesday, but their female counterparts were unable to match that achievement as they won silver with 172.587.
