Students pass vote of no confidence on Dean of Students Affairs

The students Union also accused the lecturer of violating female students' privacy by entering their hostel without notice.

The Students Representative Council of the Umaru Musa Yaradua University has expressed their displeasure with the Dean of Students Affair, Sulaimon Kankara.

The students who met on Tuesday, October 24, to discuss the many problems facing them in the school decided to pass a vote of no confidence against Kankara.

In a press statement obtained by Pulse, the students' body, accused Kankara of retarding good welfare and hindering conducive livelihood for them.

The council of students accused Kankara who is a lecturer in the Department of Biology of using insulting language on them and violating female students' privacy by entering their hostel without notice.

Pulse reached out to Kankara for comments about the allegations levied against by the students.

On hearing that the Students Representative Council had passed a vote of no confidence on him, Kankara laughed off the allegations and described the press students press release as mischief-making.

"Students pass vote of no confidence on me? Is it a press release or mischief-making because if it is a press release you have to invite press men. Actually, this is not genuine and the allegations in the release are not genuine. You can confirm from the school management if the allegations are true or not."

"It is (the allegation) against me but I just told you that the press release is fake and nobody has written anything to me to inform me about this. So, I don't think there is any element of truth in it."

Umaru Musa Yaradu'a University was recently in the news when the school management allegedly employed the service of snake charmers to rid the University of snakes.

The Dean of Student Affairs while speaking to Pulse on the management efforts to reduce snakes in the school said the management only engaged snake hunters to smoke out the reptiles from their holes.

He added that the university authorities have always been inviting snake hunters to the school since inception.

It will be recalled that a final year student of the University, Umar Zainab died after she was bitten by a snake in the school premises.
