Singapore police have arrested two men following a security breach during Formula 1's Singapore Grand Prix weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Formal charges have already been brought against one of them for trespassing in restricted areas.
According to Channel NewsAsia, 39-year-old Indian national Daver Arish Adil appeared in court on Saturday (October 10). The incident unfolded on the afternoon of October 9, the day before the street race. Investigators reported that Adil managed to access the venue with an invalid ticket before illegally entering a strictly controlled zone reserved exclusively for race personnel and performing artists. Law enforcement officers located and apprehended him inside the complex.
A second man, aged 35, was also arrested in connection with the case, with investigations into his involvement still ongoing. For each of the two charges against him, Adil faces up to three months in prison, a fine of up to 1,500 Singapore dollars, or both.
Police emphasized that unauthorized entry into secured zones during major events is dealt with severely, as such breaches compromise safety at a marquee event like Formula 1. This is not the first occurrence at Marina Bay—last year, an exchange student received a four-week prison sentence after sneaking into the VIP section during the night race.
The incident coincided with the conclusion of the championship's Asian swing. All eyes in the paddock now turn to the final stretch of the season and the upcoming United States Grand Prix, scheduled to take place at the Circuit of the Americas on October 23.
