Thiago Helguera continues to find himself out of favor with manager Carlos Vicens, and SC Braga has once again found a destination for him in Spain. The club officially announced on Thursday the loan of the Uruguayan midfielder to Atlético de Madrid.
The player will represent the Spanish club on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old player previously played in Spain last season, with Mirandés.
The agreement between the two clubs includes a non-mandatory purchase option set at 2.5 million euros. This figure could increase by an additional 1.5 million euros, depending on the player's achievement of individual performance targets.
Additionally, SC Braga has secured the right to 50 percent of any future transfer profit should Atlético de Madrid sell the player subsequently.
Signed from Nacional de Montevideo for 3.75 million euros, Thiago Helguera remains under contract with SC Braga, with a release clause set at 50 million euros.
