German journalist Florian Plettenberg broke the news, adding that the Magpies are set to pay around €60 million for the young creative talent.

Manzambi is expected to sign a long-term contract at St. James' Park. Another Premier League club, Aston Villa – winners of the last UEFA Europa League and set to compete in the Champions League in 2026/27 – was also reportedly interested in the player.

Johan Manzambi has been a key figure in Switzerland's World Cup campaign. He has tallied three goals and two assists in four appearances for the Swiss, missing their Round of 16 clash against Colombia due to injury. Switzerland is now set to face Argentina in the quarter-finals. It remains to be seen if Manzambi will recover in time for Sunday morning's showdown with the reigning champions.
