Estéban Lepaul is back in the headlines regarding a potential move to Benfica, though recent developments suggest the odds are stacked against the Lisbon giants. The 26-year-old Rennes striker, recently handed his first two France caps by Zinédine Zidane, is on the radar of several European heavyweights, with the Eagles facing competition from PSG, Inter Milan, and Atlético Madrid.

According to reports from German outlet Fussball News, scouts from all four clubs were present in the stands during Rennes' UEFA Europa League trip to Sturm Graz on September 16, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Per Dailysports, Benfica have shown the strongest persistence in pursuing the forward, having already gathered preliminary information regarding the 26-year-old's contractual terms. Lepaul had previously featured on the Eagles' shortlist during the summer transfer window.

However, the competition is fierce and Rennes' valuation reflects his rising stock: between €50 million and €60 million—a figure far beyond what Benfica can realistically afford. That is according to French publication Sport, which reported extensively on the matter this Monday.

PSG's interest is also firmly established. Sporting advisor Luís Campos monitored the forward throughout last season, when he finished as the top French goalscorer in Ligue 1. His profile as an out-and-out finisher appeals greatly to both Campos and head coach Luis Enrique.
