Aston Villa confirmed two new signings this Wednesday, delighting fans with a quick double announcement: first, left-back Matteo Ruggeri, followed just five minutes later by goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Both players have penned long-term contracts, committing to the club until 2031.

Matteo Ruggeri, a 24-year-old Italian international, arrives in England from Atlético Madrid in a transfer deal reportedly worth €25 million.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who featured in the 2026 World Cup, joins the Villans for €30 million. PSG had been close to securing the player from Parma, but the deal ultimately fell through.

Suzuki, who also holds American nationality, came through the ranks at Urawa Reds and had a spell at Sint-Truiden before moving to Parma.

Suzuki's arrival comes at a time when Emi Martínez's future at the club appears increasingly uncertain. The Japanese shot-stopper is expected to take over as the new number one, despite the Argentine's proposed move to Juventus collapsing, with the Italian club ultimately signing Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham instead.
