A heavy windstorm led to the collapse of a building which reportedly killed two children during their sleep.

Tragedy struck on Thursday, August 18, 2016, as a building collapsed at Karigidi village in the Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa following torrential rains in the state.

According to an eyewitness, Muhammad Umar, the victims were sleeping in their house when the incident occurred.

Members of their family such as the parents and another child managed to escape the disaster unhurt.

The chairman of the local government council, Alhaji Muhammad Kani, commiserated with the family regarding their loss.

He made a donation of N10,000, as well as roofing sheets to help their recovery.

Kani reportedly made an appeal to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to render assistance to the affected family in a bid to help their rehabilitation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported that other houses and farmlands were affected by the windstorm which followed the rain.
