The second seed followed defending champion Andy Murray out of the ATP 250 grass-court tournament by losing to Feliciano Lopez in straight sets.

Berdych was broken just once throughout the clash in London, but that was enough for the 10th-seeded Spaniard to set up a last-four meeting with Radek Stepanek with a 6-4 7-6 (9-7) win.

Veteran Stepanek, who shocked Murray on Thursday, continued his impressive form as he sent seventh seed Kevin Anderson packing with a 1-6 6-3 6-2 victory.

Anderson started brilliantly with two breaks of serve in the opening set, but 15th seed Stepanek battled back superbly to book his spot in the semi-finals.

Top seed Stanislas Wawrinka, meanwhile, avoided the fate of Berdych and Murray by beating Marinko Matosevic 7-5 6-3.

Wawrinka bided his time in the opener, finally breaking when 6-5 to the good to move one set to the good.

The Australian Open champion then picked up where he left off in the second set, breaking in Matosevic's very first service game to take an advantage that proved unassailable.

Wawrinka will face Grigor Dimitrov in the last four, after the Bulgarian's match with Alexandr Dolgopolov was cancelled due to the eighth seed sustaining a foot injury.
