Tim Tszyu secured a dominant victory over the previously undefeated Denis Nurja in the main event of Sunday's fight night (April 5) at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, Australia.
Tszyu dropped Nurja in the fourth round and appeared poised to finish the bout before the final bell, but ultimately opted to take the fight to a decision (100-88 on all three judges' scorecards).
"I was trying to knock him out," Tszyu stated after the fight.
However, it was understandable that Tszyu wasn't necessarily seeking an all-out brawl, especially considering his previous outcomes – knockout losses to Bakhram Murtazaliev in 2024 and to Sebastian Fundora in their 2025 rematch.
CompuBox statistics unequivocally favored the boxing scion. He landed 236 of 573 total punches, including 155 of 323 power shots. Nurja, in contrast, connected on 94 of 380 total punches, with 59 of 199 being power punches.
With his win over Nurja, the 31-year-old Tszyu, fighting out of Sydney, Australia, now boasts a record of 27-3 (18 KOs). Nurja, also 31, from Albania, now stands at 20-1 (9 KOs).
