The Nokia 3310 was one of the "pioneer" mobile phones in Nigeria way back in the early 2000s. The few who owned this GSM device were regarded with a mixture of envy and admiration by everyone.

It was a simple phone but welcome development in the country since the populace back then were already growing weary of the weighty "walkie talkie" cell phones and restrictive desktop telephones.

The Nokia 3310 had basic features like; 2G network, monochrome graphic, dynamic font size, softkey, screensavers, SMS messaging, vibration, downloadble monophonic ringtones, games (Snake II, Pairs II, Space Impact and Bantumi). It had no camera, GPRS, radio, Bluetooth or USB port.

In a nutshell, it was just a basic phone for "learners" where GSM handling was concerned. But then again, it met our needs at that time.

With the vast array of smartphones available these days, it's a miracle that we survived with just Nokia 3310 and other "dull phones" back in the day. It's really hard to imagine life without Facebook, Instagram, Skype and of course, Twitter!
