The World is Crazy for Wembanyama, But a Kid Who's a Head Taller Has Arrived: The New Giant is 18, 229 cm, and Grabs the Rim Without Jumping! /VIDEO/

While the world is still captivated by Victor Wembanyama, a new talent has emerged from the shadows, towering over the French giant by a full five centimeters! The young basketball phenomenon, Jongkuch Mak, is only 18 years old, stands at an incredible 229 centimeters (7'6"), and caused a stir among NBA and EuroLeague scouts at a recent camp in Treviso, Italy.

Born in South Sudan, Mak hails from the renowned Dinka tribe – an ethnic group from the Nile banks famous for having some of the tallest people on the planet. His parents emigrated to Australia, where at 14, he was recruited into the prestigious Centre of Excellence for basketball in Canberra. What truly astonished experts at the Australian Institute of Sport was his movement mechanics. Despite standing at 229 cm (7'6"), Mak moves as if he were 40 centimeters shorter. In the last year alone, he's gained 18 kilograms (40 lbs) of pure muscle mass, and his physique allows him to effortlessly touch the rim at the standard height of 3.05 meters (10 feet) without even jumping!

A Giant in Stature, a Guard in Movement!

At the prestigious "Adidas Eurocamp" in Treviso, a gathering of the world's top talents, Mak created an immense buzz. Unlike most players over two meters tall who, at his age, often appear sluggish and struggle with coordination, the young Sudanese talent moves with remarkable fluidity on the court. He boasts impressive shooting mechanics, an excellent sense of space, and a wingspan that allows him to effortlessly "lock down" the paint.

In Canberra, he was coached by Rob MacKinlay, the expert credited with developing NBA star Josh Giddey, which has given Mak an exceptionally stable basketball foundation. His family is currently preparing to move to the USA, where he will test his skills in college before entering the NBA draft. If he can avoid injuries, the world could very soon witness a new dominant force in the paint.

From Australia to the NBA

Given that he is still growing, Mak's potential is immense. His presence evokes memories of the late Manute Bol, also a Sudanese Dinka tribesman, who stood 229 centimeters (7'6") tall and weighed only 91 kilograms (200 lbs) when he arrived in the NBA in 1985. Bol once revealed that his grandfather was an astonishing 239 centimeters (7'10") tall. Legend has it that Bol broke two teeth on his first dunk, and he went on to have a notable career, primarily on defense, where he consistently "swatted away" shots from NBA stars of his era.
