Everton are back on the market less than two years after their last takeover. Current owners The Friedkin Group are open to parting ways with the Merseyside club, but only on the condition that any prospective buyer possesses the necessary capacity to take the team to the next level.
According to reports from The Athletic, the Toffees' hierarchy was initially seeking fresh investment, but is now open to a full sale if a suitable candidate emerges. The consortium emphasizes that they remain fully committed to supporting the club and are comfortable staying at the helm until the right successor is identified.
The American group holds an extensive sporting portfolio, owning Serie A giants AS Roma and French outfit Cannes, while also working towards launching an NHL franchise in Houston through a project valued at around £2.65 billion.
The Friedkin Group acquired Everton in December 2024, purchasing previous majority owner Farhad Moshiri's 94 percent stake via the investment vehicle Roundhouse Capital.
