27-yr-old man in prison for biting off policeman's ear

A 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Ayelangbe, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly assaulting and biting off the ear of a police officer, Corporal Ebere Nwogidi, who had tried to apprehend him while trying to break into a house located at No. 21, Temple Road, Ikoyi.

According to police prosecutor,Inspector Benson Emuerhi, the accused assaulted the police officer at about 3am when he was accosted trying to jump the fence into the compound.

Ayelangbe, of an unknown address, is facing a three count-charge bordering on unlawful entry and grievous assault.

"Ayelangbe was caught while trying to jump a fence into a private residence at Ikoyi. The accused attempted to escape from Corporalsand Ebere Nwogidi which led to a scuffle. Ayelangbe then of Nwogidi," Emuerhi said.
