Rumours emanating from a local radio station in Ghana, Asempa FM that every team member of the second placed Black Stars of Ghana was gifted with a Cherokee SUV Jeep has been strongly debunked by the Football Association.
GFA insists that they never after the tournament received any other gift apart from the cash reward they got, questioning the ethics of the source.
Asempa FM, a station banned by the FA from football matters reported that Black Stars players, including the sports minister were bought SUV jeeps by the government.
Debunking the ‘fictitious’ report, GFA Spokesman, Ibrahim Sannie was quoted: ‘’This is not true. Absolutely not true.
‘’As I speak with you, we have not received any notice from government or the sports ministry about this.''
He confirms: ‘’we have not received any SUVs or been asked to. So it is negatively surprising that this report will be carried without the possibility of double sourcing the story from the GFA, the ministry or even government. This is tittle-tattle.’’
As at the filing of this report, the GFA was contacted to again confirm or deny.
