The Falcons defeated their West African counterparts by a lone goal scored by Under 20 Striker Rasheedat Ajibade.

The Super Falcons dominated the match but could not find the breakthrough in the first period.

Newly Unveiled Super Falcons CoachThomas Dennerby, was in charge for the encounter.

Mali were late replacements for Benin Republic who pulled out, and were able to keep themselves in the game until the final moments.

Rasheedat who plays in the Nigerian Women’s Football League for FC Robo Queens, scored just before the game ended to give the reigning African Champions all three points.

In the other group B game, Senegal beat Togo 6 - 0, to go top of group B on goal difference.

Nigeria will take on Senegal in their second group game on Saturday, February 17 (4pm Nigerian time)
