With the Super Falcons on the verge' of exiting the FIFA Women's World Cup, the Nigeria Football Federation have reportedly kicked off the search for a coach for the women's national team.
According to , the NFF have opened talks with Swedish manager, Pia Sundhage to take over African champions Super Falcons.
Pia, as she is fondly called, won two Olympic golds with United States of America between 2008 and 2012.
The 55-year-old Swede won the 2012 FIFA World Coach of the Year and is currently in charge of the Swedish Women team at the ongoing World Cup in Canada.
“Top officials are keen to have the highly-rated coach take over the Falcons,” a highly-placed official told the website.
“The Falcons have very talented players like (Asisat) Oshoala and (Desire) Oparanozie, but their problem is basically coaching and that is why they opened talks with Pia in Canada during the World Cup.”
The Super Falcons currently led by Edwin Okon who is expected to be sacked after the World Cup.
After a draw and a loss in the World Cup, the Super Falcons need at least a win against the United States of America to progress to the next round.
