Moses Simon grabbed the first goal in Sunday's 4-1 thrashing of Brest at the Stade de la Beaujoire in what was Nantes' first win in seven matches.

The 29-year-old Nigeria international was on a six-game goalless run for Nantes since he scored in September's 3-2 away loss to Terem Moffi's Lorient side.

Nantes were on a wretched run of seven matches without a victory with their last win coming on September 9, a 2-1 victory over Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League.

Thus, Nantes coach Antoine Komboure went with a strong forward line featuring Egyptian striker Mostapha Mohamed, Cameroonian forward Ignatius Ganago, Ludovic Blas and Super Eagles winger Moses Simon.

Bottom-placed Brest were the worse of both sides with one win, three draws, and six defeats before the match condemning them to 20th place on the log.

Nantes had the opportunity to take the lead in the 12th minute but Blas missed his penalty, only for Brest to take the lead six minutes later through Senegalese forward Noah Fadiga.

However, Nigerian winger Moses Simon drew Nantes level in the 35th minute, this time taking up penalty duties and dispatching his effort with confidence.

From there on, Nantes took control of the game. The Komboure-led side made it two goals in just two minutes when Ganago took Nantes ahead in the 36th minute.

Mohamed got in on the act in the 70th minute while second-half substitute Moussa Sissoko made it four goals for Nantes in the 88th minute.

The victory pushes Nantes to 14th place on the log with 10 points, albeit just two points away from the relegation spots. Brest remain rooted to the bottom of the table with six (6) points.
