Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has stated that he pays no attention to rumours about him in the media over his performance for Belgian club KRC Genk.

The 28-year-old forward had a tough start to the 2022/23 season, going on a six-match barren run in front of goal after returning from an injury layoff.

However, the Nigeria international has bounced back in recent games, scoring four (4) goals in his last three (3) matches in the league for Genk.

I gave everything for Genk - Onuachu

In his latest outing against OH Leuven, Onuachu bagged the only goal of the match as Genk capitalised on Royal Antwerp's loss to go top of the Belgian Pro League table.

In an interview with HLN as reported by scorenigeria, Onuachu stressed that he gave his all for his team against Leuven as he looks to get back to his full capacity.

Onuachu said: "I gave everything for the team (vs OH Leuven). In the end I was finished, but we have a lot of good players who could come in. I am gradually getting back to almost 100 percent.

"I just want to play, have fun and meet up with the coach’s expectations. I enjoy his confidence.”

People will always talk - Onuachu

Commenting on the rumours going around about him during his barren spell for Genk, the Super Eagles striker waved it off, stressing that he does not pay attention to such news.

“As a footballer you have to be able to live with people talking about you. I don’t care. I don’t really follow the media,” Onuachu shot back.

“It’s simple: I was injured at the beginning of the season and had to be fit again. It was tough for a while, but I’m a professional.”

Onuachu will hope to continue his hot scoring streak when Genk return to action on Tuesday, October 18 as they take on KVC Westerlo on their home grounds at the Cegeka Arena.
