The 28-year-old Nigerian forward has now bagged six (6) goals in his last four (4) league games, powering his club to the top of the Belgian league.

This comes after the Super Eagles star suffered an early-season dip, failing to score in his first six (6) league matches of the season.

Onuachu explains KVC Westerlo big win

Onuachu suffered an injury during pre-season that presumably affected his form coming into the new season for Genk after finishing top scorer for the Wouter Vrancken-led side during the 2021/22 season.

Having bounced back, the towering forward scored his second brace of the season in the 6-1 demolition of KVC Westerlo on Tuesday.

However, Onuachu pointed out that their big win over Westerlo was down to Genk's hard work and listening to the coach's instructions rather than Westerlo being an easy opponent.

According to Sporza as reported by Walfoot, Onuachu said: "Everyone did their job and knew what they had to do. It's not correct to say that everything went in. It's only the result of our work.

"We pressed well. We played the way the coach wanted us to. we play. I'm very happy with this victory."

Furthermore, Onuachu revealed that his recent goalscoring form is down to nothing else than him putting in the hard work on the training pitch.

The Super Eagles striker confirmed that he has not changed his style of play and he expects the goals to keep coming his way.

"I haven't changed the way I play. The goals keep coming and I keep working. These goals are the result of my hard work in training," Onuachu concluded.

The Nigeria international will hope to continue his good form in front of goal when Genk visit second-placed Royal Antwerp on Sunday, October 23 at the Bosuilstadion in a top-of-the-table clash.
