Odion Ighalo was in action for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they recorded a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

Ighalo retired from the national team after leading the Super Eagles to a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, where he finished as the tournament's top scorer.

Ighalo came out of retirement after over two years and head coach, Gernot Rohr, gave him a start in the game played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old featured for 78 minutes in the fixture before he was replaced by Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.

In his return to the team, Ighalo put in a decent performance as the Super Eagles sealed their place in the playoffs for the world cup.

Following his performance, Ighalo decided to pay a visit to his mother. The former Manchester United striker has always highlighted the close relationship he has with his mother through several posts on social media.

On Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, Ighalo decided to show off his visit to his mother following the Cape Verde clash.

Ighalo posted a video on his official Instagram account of him having a good time with his mother.

Along with the video was a statement that said, "After a tough game I rushed home to surprise MAMA before I leave back to base ."

In the video, Ighalo is seen chatting with his mother in front of a table with several dishes.

Ighalo is expected to return to Riyadh to help his team Al-Shabab Football Club as they aim to win the Saudi Arabian Professional League.
