Rohr hint at call-ups for Akpom, Aina, other England-based youngsters

Arsenal star (on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion), Akpom, Chelsea defender, Aina, Queens Park Rangers player Ebere Eze and Sunderland's Josh Maja all trained with the Super Eagles on Monday, March 27.

The youngsters are some of the players the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are trying to get to commit to Nigeria.

On Monday, these four players joined the Super Eagles team at the Hive where a friendly match between the team ended 1-1.

Rohr has hinted that these players will be given Super Eagles call-ups in the nearest future.

“We’ve been able to see some new players and young Nigerian talents here in the UK, that could be part of our future,” the coach said on the official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles.

"We always leave the door open to young talent," he later told .

Chuba Akpom

Akpom is a forward who is signed to Arsenal but on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion. Born and brought up in England, the 21-year-old star has played for the English U-16, U-17, U-20 and U-21 teams.

The forward born to Nigerian parents has however flirted with the idea of switching his allegiance to Nigeria.

Akpom regularly visits Nigeria and was at the studios for an interview in June 2016. In that interview, the forward refused to answer questions on his international allegiance as he was yet to make a decision.

With the training with the Super Eagles, Akpom seems to have made his decision.

Ola Aina

Aina was born in Southwark, south London and has captained England at Under 19 level as well as playing in two successive FA Youth Cup winning sides.

A pacey option at right back, Aina can also play in the centre of defence, on the left, or in a more advanced position on the right wing.

He was at the Super Eagles camp with his dad and also watched Nigeria’s friendly with Senegal

Ebere Eze

18-year-old Eze is eligible to play for both England and Nigeria. The QPR forward has pledged his alliance to Nigeria.

Josh Maja

Full name Joshua Erowoli Orisunmihare Oluwaseun Maja, the Sunderland forward was born in London to Nigerian parents and grew up in Pimlico, London.

He started his career at Fulham before moving to Sunderland. He has already committed his future to Nigeria.
