The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have stopped the payment of match bonuses and allowances to Super Eagles players in cash.

According to , ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the NFF have demanded that players open an account with any local bank, where their match bonuses and allowances will be paid.

“We have been asked to open foreign currency accounts with a bank where our bonuses will now be paid,” a player informed African Football.

This move is as a result of the new financial policy in relation to foreign currencies adopted by the new government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This new payment method was one of the things included in the new players’ code of conduct which the NFF have introduced to the Super Eagles.

The new code of conducts which have been drawn up for players and officials of the various national teams will restrict the use of social media while in camp.

Speaking from Belgium on Sunday, October 11, NFF President Amaju Pinnick assured that the code of conduct was ready and would be implemented soonest to guide the conduct of players, officials and coaches and minimize areas of conflict and tension in the national camp.

“A small group had been working on the code of conduct and I am happy to say that it is now ready for implementation,” Pinnick is quoted to say by the NFF website.
